ABOUT ME

My name is Maykell, and I’m a husband, father, follower of Jesus, and a lifelong learner who is passionate about helping others grow in their walk with Christ.

Over the years, through ministry training, theological study, discipleship relationships, and my own journey through joy, sorrow, discipline, and grace, I’ve become convinced that true transformation happens when we learn to abide in Christ and allow Him to reshape us from the inside out. This blog is simply an overflow of that calling. I write to encourage, equip, and walk alongside ordinary believers who desire to know God deeply, follow Him faithfully, and become who He has called them to be.

Behind everything I write, create, or teach stands the quiet, steady influence of my wife and my sons. They are God’s greatest earthly gifts to me and living reminders of grace, purpose, and the kind of man I long to become. My wife is a woman whose faith, wisdom, and steadfast love continually shape me into a better husband and father. My sons are the joyful weight of responsibility God has placed in my hands, calling me to raise them with courage, tenderness, and conviction

Part of the reason Abide & Become exists is because of them. I want this space to be more than theological reflections or discipleship tools, though it will certainly be those things. I hope it also becomes a resource for young fathers and husbands who are navigating the beautiful, complicated calling of leading a family. My desire is to share not only biblical truth but also the everyday, real-life lessons learned in the slow, ordinary moments of fatherhood and marriage: the sleepless nights, the soccer fields, the schoolroom prayers, the hard conversations, the laughter around the dinner table.

I want to leave behind more than memories, I want to leave a legacy. A legacy of faithfulness, tenderness, repentance, courage, and joy. I want my sons to grow up seeing a man who abides deeply in Christ, who becomes more like Him year by year, who loves their mother sacrificially, and who walks out discipleship not just in sermons or blogs, but in the living room, the driveway, and the quiet moments when no one is watching.

My hope is that what I write here will help others to walk that same path with humility and strength. If anything in this blog strengthens a young believer’s resolve, encourages a weary husband’s heart, or gives a bit of clarity where things feel overwhelming, then it will have served its purpose.

At the end of the day, everything I do, every post, every video, every reflection is done with my family in mind. That through Christ, I might leave behind a legacy that points them, and others, toward Jesus.
